The United States and Britain closed their embassies in Yemen Sunday based on concerns about terrorist threats. The U.S. embassy in Sana'a says the threats are from the group al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which is linked to the failed bombing of a U.S.-bound airplane on Christmas Day. But no one at the embassy has said whether its closure is in response to a specific threat.
On Thursday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the embassy urged U.S. citizens in Yemen to remain vigilant amid what it called "the continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence" against Americans throughout the world.
